Portfolio
Three independent reference properties.
Kovalik Digital operates three publishing properties. They cover different verticals (home services, trade licensing, professional sports) but share the same editorial pattern: identify a high-intent vertical where existing sources have structural conflicts of interest or no editorial accountability, then publish a reference operation that answers user questions directly, with disclosed data sources.
The properties are listed in order of launch.
NailThePrice
NailThePrice publishes home improvement cost estimates for homeowners pricing projects before contacting contractors. The site covers 90 project categories across 289 U.S. cities, totaling 26,109 cost pages.
Cost estimates derive from a proprietary model (the NailThePrice Local Cost Model) that adjusts national averages using BLS labor data, Census cost-of-living indices, NOAA climate data, and municipal permit schedules. Each page discloses the cost range, the typical cost, the factors driving the estimate, regional considerations specific to the metro area, and permit and timeline information. Prices are not crowdsourced from users or contractors. The model is the source.
The site monetizes through affiliate partnerships and is positioned for additional integrations and display advertising at scale. The site does not gate content or charge subscriptions.
TradePrepped
TradePrepped publishes trade licensing requirements for tradespeople pursuing licensure themselves rather than going through schools or exam-prep vendors. Coverage spans 79 trades across all 50 states plus DC, totaling 4,160 jurisdiction-specific pages.
Each page aggregates data from the state's licensing board: the licensing authority, experience requirements, exam specifications and passing scores, application fees, license renewal terms, and reciprocity agreements with other states. Where licensing terminology differs between jurisdictions (apprentice, journeyworker, journeyman, master), the page reflects the term used by that state's board rather than a sanitized common term. The data is current and the authority is named.
The site is live and indexing. Monetization will run through "find a licensed pro" lead generation partnerships at scale, alongside affiliate opportunities adjacent to trade licensing (continuing education, exam preparation, insurance for licensed contractors).
PromoNight
PromoNight is a reference site and mobile app for promotional events at professional sports games: giveaways, theme nights, food deals, and kids and family events. Coverage spans 167 teams across MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, and WNBA. The site currently tracks more than 2,650 promotions, updated daily throughout each league's season.
Data is aggregated from official team sources, ticketing platforms, and press releases. The site does not include unsubstantiated rumors or fan-submitted entries. Every promotion traces back to an official source.
The web experience is free. A freemium mobile app on iOS and Android adds push notifications for starred teams via PromoNight Pro subscription ($9.99 per year, or $5.99 per season per sport). This is the only Kovalik Digital property with a mobile distribution channel.
